BigRep Studio 3D Printer
BigRep Studio

BigRep has been an industry leader in professional large scale 3d printers for a while now, and we had the chance to see their new machines at Rapid Event + TCT additive manufacturing convention. They showed off two of their printers they had on display: BigRep Studio and the even larger version, the BigRep One. The first printer is perfect if you want something big enough to print furniture or large parts that can fill the massive build volume.

  • BigRep One

BigRep’s presence at Rapid Event got the attention they deserved. This year because they were showing off their line up. We had an opportunity to see both large 3d printers – one that was better suited for bigger 3d prints like printing chairs!

The BigRep One is a large, industrial-grade 3D printer that comes with a massive 1 meter x 1 meter print area. What this means in plain English is it can pretty much make anything you want! The BigRep printers use FFF (Fused Filament Fabrication) also known as fdm (Fused Deposition Modeling) to create huge 3d printed objects that are bigger than most 3d printers. The large format printer has incredible accuracy for such a large machine.

The BigRep representatives gave us a thorough presentation as we reviewed the features of their high-end machines. The large format Bigrep Studio has a print volume of 500 mm x 1000 mm x 500mm and a heated chamber which allows for a larger range of materials that require a temperature controlled environment.

Titan Atlas- High Speed Industrial 3D Printer

The Atlas 3d printer by Titan Robotic is an industrial grade, high speed machine that can extrude large volumes of plastic at ridiculous speeds up to 350mm/second. The high-speed 3d printer uses a hybrid extruder system that’s a cross-over between a pellet extruder and filament extruder. The industrial printer uses a ball screw driven motion system on the X,Y and Z-axis to move quickly as it prints large objects with precision.

The pellet extrusion system that Titan Robotics uses can increase print speeds up to 10X faster. In addition pellet extrusion, the pellet extruder also increases the ranger of materials that can be 3d printed. Many Atlas users use the pellet extruder to mix different types of materials such as soft rubber plastics to strong, high temperature plastics or even carbon-fiber filled plastics.

  • Faster Print Speeds
  • Custom Material Blends

Titan robotics also manufactures their own high flow extruder they call the Mastiff. The custom filament extruder increases filament printing speeds by 3X compared to Titan’s previous filament extruders. The average printing flow rate of the extruder is up to 1 pound per hour and is compatible with most FDM filaments such as ABS, PC+PBT, PETG and PLA.
